How does it work?

 The owner of the tank is Enercare Inc. - Enercare is a North American-wide plumbing, HVAC, and electrical home service business and has been renting equipment for 30+ years. Pioneer has partnered with Enercare and is representing them in British Columbia. Our rental contract is based on a 15-year term. This means you would be agreeing to pay the monthly payment until either the tank is no longer working, or the contract expires (you can buy out the tank at any time).

What happens when the tank breaks down or dies?

If the tank breaks down during your contract, you simply call the number on your tank, and Enercare will dispatch Pioneer to diagnose the tank free of charge. We will repair the tank if it can be repaired. When a tank is no longer operational and needs replacement, the contract ends. We can replace the tank free of charge by signing you up on a new contract.  

What is the monthly cost?

We determine the monthly cost by choosing the correct water heater to fit your needs. If you are happy with the size of your existing water heater then we can replace it with an equivalent model. We have the following sizes and types available:

We tend to get initial pushback on the idea of a monthly fee for hot water tanks which we completely understand but please keep in mind that the average hot water tank lasts for 7-8 years. If you were to purchase a tank outright, it would take you 7-8 years of monthly payments to recoup that initial cost, and by then, your water heater will likely begin to experience breakdowns and even complete failure. Tanks used to last much longer but nowadays the manufacturer offers a 6-year parts warranty and 1 year on labour due to their short lifespan.  

What happens if I would like to cancel the rental contract?

You can cancel at any time by buying out the tank. Our buyout prices are as follows:

Keep in mind that the buy-out price drops the longer you are in the contract (similar to when you lease a vehicle, the. buy-out price lowers as you go).
